Not suitable for Syrian hamster or smaller. This will NOT keep your Syrian hamster in. Ours escaped the first night through the bars. We had to buy additional wire and put around it! Modified I really love this cage, but I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 because I did feel the need to reinforce a couple of areas with wire. I’m using the cage for two adult male rats. The small door on the side of the cage seemed like they could easily push through so I wired it closed and I just access them from the top.
