May not release water easily The spring loaded ball mechanism can be a problem. I ordered several of these, and none dripped, however two would not allow for air to get into the metal tube easily, thus not giving the animal water easily. They were for rats and guinea pigs. The rats ate hole in them very quickly out of frustration, but the guinea pigs had better luck since they tend to slam their water bottles around that hang in their pens. Have this mounted on the outside of the cage with … Have this mounted on the outside of the cage with the water tube protruding inside. Most of the time there are no issues with leaking. However the water bottle is more sensitive to cage bumps and vibration, and when the cage moves this water bottle leaks more than two other water bottles from another company. If it had been a serious problem I would have returned it.
