BEWARE I bought this food a few months ago, mostly because the price was great and you get a good sized bag. Iâve been feeding both of my guinea pigs this food for about 7 months now. My Guinea pig developed two bladder stones, which were very painful for him and costly for me. Beware the high calcium content Our piggies love these pellets BUT you need to be aware that they are alfalfa-based and therefore have a HIGH CALCIUM CONTENT! I read that alfalfa is especially good for young and pregnant piggies, so I ordered Kaytee Supreme pellets for our 3-month-old girls. Alas, I am now seeing chalky residue from their urine, which indicates too much calcium in their diet, which could cause sludge and even deadly stones in their urinary tract systems. Yikes!
