BEWARE I bought this food a few months ago, mostly because the price was great and you get a good sized bag. I’ve been feeding both of my guinea pigs this food for about 7 months now. My Guinea pig developed two bladder stones, which were very painful for him and costly for me. After looking over his diet and exercise I could not find how or why these stones developed other than some guinea pigs are genetically predisposed to getting bladder stones. They tend to be picky about what they eat (unless it’s fresh vegetables and fruit) and I wasn’t sure if they would eat this sinc I have several Guinea Pigs so I have to buy their pellets in bulk and after researching what was in my price range in an amount that made more sense than buying it at the store, I decided on Kaytee Forti Diet Pro Health and I buy the 25lb bag I believe every two months. Beware the high calcium content Our piggies love these pellets BUT you need to be aware that they are alfalfa-based and therefore have a HIGH CALCIUM CONTENT! I read that alfalfa is especially good for young and pregnant piggies, so I ordered Kaytee Supreme pellets for our 3-month-old girls. Alas, I am now seeing chalky residue from their urine, which indicates too much calcium in their diet, which could cause sludge and even deadly stones in their urinary tract systems. Yikes!
